Activated charcoal is not the most pleasurable tasting thing in the world. While much of the activated charcoal that you can buy is ‘sweetened’ with sorbitol, it still does not really do much for the taste. If you are going to be ingesting activated charcoal regularly, perhaps as part of a diet, then it is likely that you will want to spruce up the activated charcoal just a little bit.

In this article, we are going to teach you how to make an awesome tasting fresh activated charcoal juice!

This juice is packed with all sorts of ingredients. These ingredients are not only going to help mask the taste of the activated charcoal, but also deliver a wealth of additional health benefits.

Equipment

You will need:
– Measuring cup.
– Measuring spoons
– A tall glass

Ingredients:

– 16oz of your favorite spring water. You can also use water from the tap, but it is likely to have an impact on the taste.
– The juice of a single organic lemon
– 2 tablespoons of maple syrup. Try to get the best quality that you can afford here.
– 2 capsules of activated charcoal. It is easier to measure like this. There is no sense in using powdered activated charcoal. Just crack open some capsules.
– Pinch of salt.

Note: You do not need to use the maple syrup here. However, we find that the maple syrup does a fantastic job of covering up the taste of the activated charcoal. The lemon is going to be OK at it. You may still have a little bit of a taste. Basically, if you are not a fan of maple syrup you can eliminate it from the recipe, but we do not suggest you do so.

How to Make

Start by adding the juice of your lemon to the spring water. Give it a good mix. You can mix this up in the glass, but it is probably going to be a bit easier for you to mix everything up in a pitcher before you pour into a glass. It creates less mess!
Once the lemon juice and the spring water have been mixed up, add your pinch of salt and the maple syrup. Give this a good stir. Once everything is mixed up nicely, you can transfer three-quarters of the mixture to your glass. Leave a quarter in the bowl.
Add ice cubes to the glass. Add the activated charcoal to the bowl. Stir both of them.
Finish by pouring the activated charcoal into the glass. You do not need to mix it up, although some people will do so because it helps to improve the flavor a little bit.
If you wish to add more of a lemon taste to the mixture, then you can add a drop of lemon essential oil. This is a very concentrated lemon taste. You can purchase lemon essential oil at any health food store. In fact, your local supermarket may even carry it as it can be used for baking.
