We have put together several different recipes for drinks on this website. Truth be told, many of them can be used as part of a detox plan. However, we know that many of them can also be a bit tricky to make every single day, which is likely how often you will be consuming activated charcoal as part of a detox plan.
You will notice that this activated charcoal detox drink is similar to another we have highlighted on this website. However, for the purposes of detoxing, we are going to make it in a slightly different way and are also going to throw in a few extra ingredients which should be more beneficial to your health and to ensure a safe and successful detox.
- Juice from ½ lemon
- Lemon wedges from the same lemon.
- Quart of water. Try to ensure that it is freshly filtered. If not, spring water should be good for this.
- Pinch of sea salt. If you can, try to get your hands on Himalayan Sea Salt. It is going to be far, far better for this.
- Tablespoon of maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal
- Sprig of mint. (Great for metabolism!)
- Couple of drops of lemon essential oil.
How to Make
You should start by heating the water up on the stove. When the water is just warm to the touch, take it off the heat.
Add your lemon wedges, your lemon juice, and your sprig of mint to a mason jar. Pour the warm water on top of this. Let this mixture steep for 20 minutes. You do not need to stir it.
After 20 minutes, carefully remove the lemon wedges and the sprig of mint. They should be large enough to grab, so no need to filter them out. The mint should be easy to pull out. You may need to use a skewer to latch onto the lemon wedges at the bottom of the mason jar. Try to avoid sticking your fingers into the jar as the oils on your fingers could impair the flavor.
Add the essential lemon oil and the maple syrup to the lemon mixture. Give it a good stir.
The next step is to add your activated charcoal. Stir again.
When Should You Drink This?
When you are going through a detox, you are trying to ensure that you get the right nutrients into your body at all times. You should always consume this drink on an empty stomach. You should not eat anything for 2 hours after you have drunk the lemonade. If you do not listen to this advice, then it is likely that the activated charcoal will bind to the nutrients inside of the food. When the activated charcoal binds to these nutrients, then the nutrients will be escorted out of the body. They will not be beneficial to you at all. Remember; the activated charcoal can’t distinguish between the toxins in your body and the nutrients!
You should only consume one glass of the detox drink per day.
